Today we celebrate Veterans and thank them for their service. We've included an image of discharge papers from the Civil War: the individual lived to the end of the war, and his discharge was a result of the unit disbanding.

In Canada, this day is Remembrance Day, on which children recite "In Flanders Fields," a powerful poem written by First World War veteran John McCrae, told from the point of view of the dead.

Today we thank all of our Veterans, without whom many of us would not be here today.
